Meet the Owner

Hello, I’m Dominique House, the owner and lead artist/designer of Colorful Events, LLC. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my story. I’m excited to share how Colorful Events came to be what us today. I look forward to helping you bring your vision for your special event to life.

Let me be honest—being a wife and a busy mom has taught me how to make life fun and memorable. What started as face painting for my kids’ birthday parties quickly blossomed into something bigger than I could have imagined. The positive feedback from family and friends encouraged me to take a leap of faith, and in 2015, Colorful Events, was born in Metro Detroit. With the loving support of my husband, we grew from a one-person operation to a thriving business offering a wide range of services to make every event truly magical.
 

I have always been passionate about creativity and design. My love for the arts runs in my genes—my mother’s creativity has been a lifelong inspiration. I studied Interior Design at Eastern Michigan University, where I honed my artistic skills and learned to turn ideas into reality. Over the years, I’ve expanded my expertise by attending professional conventions and workshops, mastering my craft, and staying ahead of the latest trends in family entertainment.

As a proud face and body art instructor for organizations like Face Paint Forum Shop, Silly Farm, and the Live in Color Family Entertainment Seminar, I’ve had the privilege of teaching and mentoring other aspiring artists. Building a strong team has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey. Today, Colorful Events boasts a talented team of over 30 entertainers, many of whom are multi-talented, ensuring we can provide exceptional, creative experiences for every client.

Our company is built on the foundation of bringing joy and magic to events, and we proudly serve communities across Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee, Oakland, Monroe counties, and beyond. We’re dedicated to continually growing, adding new styles, designs, and services, and staying on top of the latest trends to create unforgettable memories.

One of my favorite quotes by Andy Rooney says, “Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while climbing it.” My children inspire me every day as they climb this mountain with me, creating joyful memories and experiences along the way. Onward to the mountaintop we go!
